Nancy Vinsel put off law school to raise her children, finishing her undergraduate degree at 29 after stepping away from school twice following the births of her first two kids, according to Business Insider.

She earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Kentucky and worked as a librarian and book vendor while weighing law school, but held off because the program would take too long during her children's "prime years."

When she later considered law school more seriously, informational interviews with practicing lawyers who said they hated their jobs convinced her to get experience working at a law firm first before formally enrolling.

Vinsel passed the bar exam on her first attempt at 53 and went on to land her dream legal job at a state agency at 64. She now tells others to consider law as a second career.
