A Woman Moved To Nashville For Her Girlfriend, Then Built A Life There Alone
After her girlfriend was admitted to Vanderbilt, the writer relocated from Massachusetts despite friends and family warning her not to move for a relationship.
After graduating college uncertain about her next step, Phoebe Farrell-Sherman decided to follow her girlfriend of a year to Nashville after her girlfriend was admitted to a master's program at Vanderbilt University, according to Business Insider.
Farrell-Sherman, who grew up in Seattle and had been living in Massachusetts for college, had never spent meaningful time anywhere between the West Coast and the Northeast before the move. Her friends and family urged her against it, warning that basing a major life decision on a relationship that might not last could leave her isolated in an unfamiliar city.
The relationship ultimately ended, but Farrell-Sherman said she built a life in Nashville anyway, finding a job and making friends in the city, and said she doesn't regret the move.
