A family pays $17 an hour for a household manager to cover meal prep, laundry and errands
The Satira family says two years of outsourcing chores has given both working parents time back with their kids.
Maria Satira, a marketing executive and part-time MBA student, says her family has paid a household manager $17 an hour for about two years to handle meal prep, laundry and errands, according to Business Insider.
Satira's husband is self-employed in construction, real estate and property management and regularly works 60-hour weeks; in one recent week the family juggled four doctors' appointments, kids' activities, a wedding and a birthday party on top of both parents' jobs.
Satira said the household manager's work has let her and her husband spend more time with their two young daughters while still keeping the house organized, the kids in clean clothes and the family eating home-cooked meals.
