Massachusetts Man's Job Search Stretches Past Two Years, Battering His Finances And Confidence
He says the toll has been harder than losing his job during the 2009 recession, despite having far more experience now.
Jeremy Spiegel has been searching for full-time work for more than two years since losing his role as regional director of account services at a publishing company, according to Business Insider. He says the prolonged search has damaged his finances, confidence and social life, leaving him avoiding social situations where someone might ask what he does for work.
Spiegel, who is in his 40s, said the only other time he lost a job was during the 2009 Great Recession, when he had fewer than five years of professional experience and found a new position quickly. This time, with more than 20 years of experience, the search has dragged on far longer.
