A woman who has cycled through side gigs for years picked up a new one this past June: cleaning her 92-year-old neighbor's house every week for $35 an hour, according to Business Insider. She landed the job after mentioning she was looking for cleaning work while getting her clothes altered, a conversation that connected her with the elderly woman's family.

It isn't her first time getting paid to clean. In college she subbed for a commercial cleaning company, and more recently she took on a weekend cleaning gig at a local taproom, alongside more typical side jobs like pet-sitting, dog-walking and child care.

The weekly visits have become about more than the paycheck. She says she and her neighbor have become friends, and she looks forward to spending time with her after the cleaning is done.
