Scrubs & Beyond Is Closing All Of Its Stores
The workplace clothing chain's shutdown comes as e-commerce continues to reshape physical retail.
Workplace clothing retailer Scrubs & Beyond is closing all of its physical stores, according to TheStreet. The move comes as retailers across the industry continue to grapple with a shift toward online shopping.
E-commerce sales accounted for 17.1% of total retail sales in the second quarter of 2026, according to U.S. Census Bureau data cited in the report. That's still a relatively small share of overall retail, even as more consumers gravitate toward the convenience of shopping online rather than visiting physical stores.
According to a Morgan Stanley Research AlphaWise survey cited by TheStreet, "the near-instantaneous gratification of online retail has evolved from amenity to necessity for many shoppers," even as a slowing job market, high interest rates, and tight credit squeeze household budgets. Scrubs & Beyond's decision to shutter its stores reflects those broader pressures facing brick-and-mortar retailers.
