Nvidia And SK Hynix Comments Hint At What's Coming For Micron

Memory pricing pressure flagged by Micron's neighbors in the supply chain looms over its September 30 earnings.

Micron Technology is approaching a key test with its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on September 30, and comments from two companies in its supply chain are already shaping expectations, according to TheStreet.

On Nvidia's fiscal second-quarter earnings call on August 26, CFO Colette Kress said the company is facing "extreme pricing conditions in memory," adding that the scale of the price increases has exceeded expectations and is set to climb further into next year, TheStreet reports, citing CNBC.

Kress guided Nvidia's gross margin to bottom out in the 71% to 72% range in the fourth quarter before recovering to 72% to 73% in fiscal 2028, once Nvidia's own repriced products begin offsetting higher input costs, according to Yahoo Finance as cited by TheStreet.

TheStreet frames those comments, along with signals from SK Hynix, as an indirect preview of the backdrop Micron will report against later this month.
