Meta Program Manager Laid Off In May Says Side Income Kept Him Prepared
The 45-year-old says living below his means and building backup income streams left him ready when the cut came.
Adekunle Ayodele, a 45-year-old program manager in Georgia, was laid off from Meta on May 20 after nearly four years at the company, learning the news by refreshing his email at 7 a.m. until the notice arrived around 7:14 a.m., according to Business Insider.
Ayodele, who supports a wife and two children, said he felt prepared for the layoff because he had consistently lived below his means and already had real estate income and business ideas to fall back on. "Having options is never a bad thing," he said.
