Couple Turns Local Direct-Mail Postcards Into Over $100,000 in Revenue
Rachel and Dalton say a single community mailer can net $1,100 to $3,500 in profit after printing and postage.

Rachel and Dalton built a side business selling ad space on community direct-mail postcards, generating more than $100,000 in revenue across more than 40 mailings, according to an interview published on Making Sense of Cents.
The model works by selling ad slots on a single oversized postcard to multiple local businesses, mailing it to thousands of homes in a neighborhood through the U.S. Postal Service's Every Door Direct Mail program, then keeping the difference between what advertisers pay and what printing and postage cost.
The couple said a single card typically nets between $1,100 and $3,500 in profit, depending on pricing, and that they eventually left their jobs to run the business full time.
They said the business doesn't require a storefront, graphic design background, or printing experience, since those pieces can be outsourced or handled through existing templates.
