Couple Married 26 Years Adjusts To Retirement After Becoming Empty Nesters
The wife says the shift from busy, separate schedules to constant togetherness took honest conversations and a shared wish list of new plans.
A woman married to her husband for 26 years — together 32 — says the couple is adjusting to being with each other nearly around the clock after becoming empty nesters and her husband retiring around the same time, according to Business Insider.
With no school schedules or workdays structuring their days, the couple found themselves navigating a quieter home, including splitting responsibility for a cat with separation anxiety now that someone is almost always there.
To manage the shift, the couple put together a shared list of "silver linings" and wish lists for how to use their new, mostly unstructured time together, after admitting the adjustment required honest conversations about a routine they had never actually lived through in three decades together.
