Binance Invests $100 Million In Circle, Signs Five-Year USDC Deal
The crypto exchange becomes a Circle shareholder while striking a new commercial agreement to expand USDC access.

Binance has invested $100 million in Circle Internet Group and signed a new five-year commercial agreement aimed at expanding access to Circle's USDC stablecoin, particularly in emerging markets, according to TheStreet.
The investment makes Binance a Circle shareholder, while a separate commercial agreement has Circle continuing to pay Binance monthly incentives tied to USDC held through the exchange's wallet infrastructure, the outlet reports. Circle generates much of its revenue from interest income on the reserve assets backing USDC.
Circle shares initially rose nearly 2% in premarket trading after the announcement before the gain faded; shares were down about 0.8% to $93.74 around midday on Sept. 22, according to TheStreet.
The relationship marks a shift from 2022, when Binance announced it would automatically convert users' USDC balances into its own BUSD stablecoin and removed several USDC trading pairs, per the report.
