Amazon Freight Partner CLJ Transporting Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

The Florida-based cargo carrier's filing comes weeks after Amazon suspended ties with another transportation partner following a fatal plane crash.

CLJ Transporting, a cargo carrier and Amazon Freight Partner based in Winter Haven, Florida, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a Florida court, according to TheStreet, citing the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The company, launched in 2005, had spent more than a decade running deliveries for Amazon within a roughly 200-mile radius of Davenport in central Florida. It last reported operating a fleet of 18 trucks with 34 employees, according to the outlet.

The filing comes amid heightened scrutiny of Amazon's delivery network following a September 6 crash in which a cargo plane operated by 21 Air, another Amazon transportation partner, ran off the runway at Miami International Airport, killing five people in a nearby vehicle. Amazon suspended operations with 21 Air after the crash, citing its own review of the incident and the ongoing National Transportation Safety Board investigation, according to TheStreet.

CLJ Transporting had operated with an unblemished safety record before its bankruptcy filing, the outlet reports, and the network Amazon relies on to process between 15 million and 17.2 million delivery orders daily now faces scrutiny on multiple fronts.
