How we research, check, review and update what we publish, and how we make money.

How we research

Our guides start from primary and authoritative sources: government agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general, industry data such as the American Resort Development Association's annual reports, court and regulatory records, and established consumer publications.

Every specific number or claim in a guide is tied to a source listed at the bottom of the page, and key facts carry numbered citations that link to those sources.

Fact-checking and expert review

Before a guide is published, we check figures against their original source and remove anything we can't verify. Where a guide lists a reviewer, that person reviewed the content and agreed to be named, with their title shown as they describe it.

We don't publish testimonials, ratings or success claims we can't verify, and we never invent people, quotes or results.

Updates and corrections

Money topics change, so guides show the date they were last updated, and we only change that date when the content changes. If you spot an error, contact us and we'll review and correct it.

How we make money

NetWorthy is free to read. Some guides include links to partner offers, and we may be paid when you click those links or use the partner's service. Partner offers are always labeled, and partners don't pay to change our advice or review our guides before publication.

When a guide recommends trying free options first, such as cancelling within a rescission window or asking a resort to take a timeshare back, we say so even though those options don't earn us anything.

Independence

NetWorthy doesn't sell timeshares, exit services, loans or insurance, and we don't collect your personal information on partner offers: any form you fill out is on the partner's own site.
